Indiana Motorsports Association Hires First Executive Director Newly Formed IMA Gears Up for Growth by Hiring Full-Time Director
Indianapolis, Ind. (April 27, 2006) – Today the Indiana Motorsports Association (IMA) Board of Directors announced the hiring of the newly formed organization’s first executive director, Thomas L. Weisenbach.
Weisenbach most recently worked for Keystone Marketing Company, a sports marketing agency based in North Carolina. Weisenbach opened an office in Indianapolis for Keystone and was responsible for their business development. Before Keystone, Weisenbach spent four years working for the Indy Racing League and Indianapolis Motor Speedway as Senior National Sales Manager. He also has worked for the NHRA at Indianapolis Raceway Park as Director of Sales and Business Development.
“The IMA is very excited that Tom has joined our organization. The IMA has matured to the point that we need someone to move us from point A to point B and Tom is the perfect match,” said Chris Paulsen, IMA Board Chairman. “The respect Tom has gained over the years while working in motorsports will bring a lot of credibility to all of the IMA projects Tom implements for our members,” added Paulsen.
As Weisenbach starts to work on May 1 he will be responsible for all of the day to day operations of the IMA. Some of the more immediate duties will include Association benefits, membership growth and relations, educational programming, communications, and industry relations. Weisenbach will be working out of the IMA offices located on the Marian College campus.
Providing a unified voice to promote the development of the motorsports industry and a forum for networking to advance its members’ business interests are key components of the IMA. The IMA also works very closely with the Governor’s motorsports initiative at the Indiana Economic Development Corp. by identifying opportunities for growing the state’s motorsports economy. “Having Tom at the IMA gives the state another valuable resource in the effort to grow Indiana motorsports. I know Tom is going to make a big impact,” stated Matt Steward, IEDC Director of Motorsports Development.
The timing of his first month to work is not lost on Weisenbach. “May is going to be a month of pageantry and excitement as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway plays host to the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” and every short track, drag strip and sanctioning body in the state hosts first-class events drawing hundreds of thousands of fans. Indiana is the home of motorsports and to get things started during the most exciting month on the racing year is something special. I look forward to getting started and working with the racers, teams, tracks, suppliers, sponsors, manufacturers and fans of this great industry. ” said Weisenbach.
